Albers Vista Gardens was created to preserve, enhance, and aesthetically display a collection of unique and botanically diverse plants. The setting is a beautiful 4.2 acre southwest facing slope, which has a saltwater view of the Port Washington Narrows and Phinney Bay and the surrounding hillsides; the view is framed by the Olympic Mountains to the west and a vista of Mount Rainier to the southeast. Nestled into the hillside is a striking new building housing a horticulture library and meeting room idea for horticulture workshops. The garden is comprised of fifteen different garden rooms including a pristine native woodland containing mature madrone and Bigleaf maple trees, a woodland garden designed to house a special collection of rhododendrons and companion plants, a majestic California Redwood surrounded by drought-resistant and deer-resistant perennials and scrubs, a Stroll Gallery that features plants from all over the world, and Sam's Conifer Reserve displaying over a hundred different dwarf conifers. Examples of special collections include nearly 400 different species and cultivars of conifers, over 100 cultivars of heaths and heathers, and over 60 kinds of maples. Come join us in this oasis to be inspired and learn about creating and maintaining a sustainable landscape with extraordinary plants for the Puget Sound region.
Also open to the public for self-guided tours every Friday between May 1st and June 26th from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. Please see our website for a list of guided garden tours.

Mission: We preserve and enhance Dunn Gardens as a public resource, celebrating the 1915 Olmstead design, and showcasing the evolution of garden design in the Pacific Northwest.
The 7-acre gardens were part of the estate of Arthur and Jeannette Dunn, who purchased the land for their summer home. James Dawson, of the Olmstead Brothers firm, was commissioned to emphasize the natural features of the land, taking advantage of the gradual slope of the property to emphasize the sweeping views of Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. Large, pre-existing stands of second-growth Douglas firs were incorporated into the plan, which also included flowering shrubs and trees. Stands of trees edged by perennial beds frame areas of open lawn.
The original landscape remains, complete with curving paths, drives and a great lawn, in addition to the E.B. Dunn Woodland Garden. Designed by Arthur's son Edward, the 2.5-acre woodland garden is forested with firs and deciduous trees planted by Dunn, along with a variety of other woodland plantings. The estate and gardens were listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

We are a small, family-maintained garden located on the northwest side of Seattle’s Capitol Hill, on a steep hillside. We garden over one acre, in several different pieces. Our private gardens surround our two houses on Broadway East, just north of the East Blaine Street stairway and are open by appointment. The newer portions of the garden, open to the public year round, comprises two sections. The first section lie south of the East Blaine stairs. In 1996 we donated these lots to the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with the city purchasing three lots, the second section, south of ours which were in danger of development. We now manage both parts as one garden.
