NPA Annual Meeting followed by Fantastic Plants and Where to Find Them

Presented by Mark Leichty, Dir. of Business Development for Little Prince of Oregon

Bellevue Botanical Garden, The Aaron Education Center and live-stream Zoom

Get ready to geek out on plants! This September, NPA welcomes Mark Leichty — passionate plantsman and nursery industry veteran — for a presentation that promises to be as fun as it is informative.

Mark has served as Director of Business Development at Little Prince of Oregon since 2013. Little Prince of Oregon is located in the Willamette Valley just south of Portland, where they grow over 1,000 varieties spanning groundcovers, succulents, ferns, herbaceous perennials, grasses, rare and unusual varieties, tropicals, and houseplants. Little Prince has built its reputation on finding plants you simply can't find anywhere else — and Mark will be sharing some of those hidden gems with us.

In Fantastic Plants and Where to Find Them, Mark will take us on a tour of standout, unusual, and underused plants worth adding to our gardens and landscapes — and better yet, where and how to find them. And the timing couldn't be more perfect: fall is one of the best-kept secrets in gardening. Cooler temperatures and reliable rainfall give newly planted specimens the ideal conditions to quietly put down deep roots before winter arrives — setting them up to burst into their full glory come spring. Whether you're filling gaps in your garden or starting fresh, September is your green light to plant.

Join NPA for this event either in-person at Bellevue Botanical Garden or via Zoom. Please register to attend for both in-person and Zoom attendance. Walk-ins for non-registrants will be allowed up to venue seating capacity. Seats will be released for walk-ins at 12:45. Registrants must arrive by that time to claim their seat. Note that the BBG parking lot fills quickly and you may need to park in the Wilburton Park lot, so allow time for that.

NOTE: In-person attendance will be open to Members and Non-Members. Non-NPA members are also welcome to join us via Zoom. Non-Member tickets will be available September 1st.

A recording will be available to members and registrants through October 20, 2026.

Spring Ephemerals

Trinity Lutheran Church & Schools, Lynnwood

Presented by Cathy Atkins (NPA Board Member)

Join us for a hands-on workshop and discussion of spring ephemerals — those fleeting, early-season woodland bloomers that light up the garden before the tree canopy leafs out.

Each attendee will plant a biodegradable bag with soil and a curated mix of ephemeral bulbs and corms, ready to take home. Simply pop the whole pot directly into your garden bed — no transplant shock, no fuss — or tuck it into a decorative ceramic pot for a season of blooms on your porch or patio.

We'll be planting a mix of:

Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades'
Anemone 'Charmer'
Border Blue Blend
Ornithogalum umbellatum (star-of-Bethlehem)
Crocus
Trientalis latifolia (western starflower) / Lysimachia borealis

NPA Members - $15.00

Non-Members - $25.00
