    New Year Lecture - Make That Clematis Work

    Presented by Linda Beutler

    Bellevue Botanical Garden, The Aaron Education Center and live-stream Zoom

    • 12pm: Social time, door prizes, and refreshments for in-person attendees
    • 1pm: Lecture at BBG and via Zoom

    Linda Beutler, past president of the International Clematis Society, will present a deep dive into Clematis. Timing is everything with clematis…getting them to rebloom, proper and timely pruning all play a part in getting the 'Queen of Vines' to do your bidding!

    In addition to her role with the International Clematis Society, Linda is an Adjunct Instructor at Clackamas Community College, Curator of the Rogerson Clematis Collection, and author of three books including The Plant Lover's Guide to Clematis.

    For those attending in person, refreshments will be served starting at 12pm.

    Join NPA for this event either in-person at Bellevue Botanical Garden  or via Zoom. Please register to attend in-person or via Zoom. Walk-ins for non-registrants will be allowed up to venue seating capacity. 

    Recording will be available to members and registrants through February 15, 2026.

    Don’t miss the highlights! Join Dana Niblack, member of the NPA Open Gardens committee, as she takes you through a fabulous photo tour highlighting the 100+ gardens opened by fellow NPA members during the 2025 Open Gardens season. 

    This presentation will showcase the diversity of garden styles and designs, fabulous plant combinations, water features, creative use of hardscape, garden art, focal points, and so much more. If you missed visiting any of the wonderful gardens opened in 2025, or would like to revisit your favorites, here’s your chance. 

    This is an ONLINE presentation for NPA Members only. Members must register to receive a Zoom link to watch this event LIVE, where questions can be asked of the presenter. A RECORDING of the live event will be shared with all NPA Members.

    Asking the Soils Questions

    Soil is the foundation from which all of our gardens grow! Understanding it, and how you can work with it is key to success. In this presentation we'll cover what is soil and how it is formed, as well as the different types of soil. You'll learn about soil testing, from DIY to professional analysis, and what to do with the results you get. By the end of the workshop expect to go home with an idea of what your soil might need and how you can work with it.

    Get an early start to gardening this spring! Growing perennials from seeds saves money and you’ll have beautiful plants for your garden, as well as plants to share. Cathy Atkins, NPA Board member, will demonstrate the best way to successfully propagate plants from seed, including techniques and materials. Participants will go home with a container of planted seeds.

    We will provide all the materials you need to be successful.

    NPA Members - $15.00

    Non-Members - $25.00

    Rose Pruning & Care Demonstration

    Learn the art of rose pruning while reviewing the tools necessary to get the job done. Rose Care Topics will include fertilizers, amendments, pests, dead-heading and methods to achieve the most abundant blooms. There will be a handout and we suggest bringing a notebook to have plenty room for additional notes.

    Sunnyside Nursery is giving NPA attendees a 20% discount on purchases made after class. Your membership card will be required for the discount.
