CANCELLED - Claire Takacs - Exquisite Beauty: A New Way of Seeing Gardens

Sorry - this event has been CANCELLED

NPA is thrilled to announce our 2020 Nicolay Memorial Lecture will feature renowned garden photographer Claire Takacs. Her stunning photographic presentation is not-to-be missed.

Claire Takacs is an Australian photographer who loves to capture the beauty and essence of gardens and landscapes around the world, particularly while working with light. She sees gardens often as works of art and believes in their ever-increasing importance in our daily lives. Her work is widely published in magazines internationally and she is a regular contributor to Gardens Illustrated. She’s won many prestigious photography awards.

Her first solo book, Dreamscapes, chronicling 70 of her favorite gardens, was published in 2017, and her second book, Australian Dreamscapes, in 2018. Last year she documented Dan Hinkley’s garden for the forthcoming book, The Gardens at Windcliff. She divides her time between Australia, Europe and the US.

Dan Hinkley said this about Claire:

“I have had the pleasure of working with numerous, extremely talented garden photographers over many years, but Claire Takacs sets herself apart by possessing an intuition of the gardener's intent. That she so adroitly captures a garden at precisely the right moment reveals the artist behind the camera; that she so handsomely apprehends the imagined dreams carved by shovel and sweat exposes the gardener behind the artist.“
