The Climate Adapted Gardener
Presented by John Albers
Bellevue Botanical Garden, The Aaron Education Center and live-stream Zoom
- Noon: Social time and refreshments for in-person attendees
- 1 pm: Lecture at BBG and via Zoom
Gardening in the Pacific Northwest now requires a wider range of strategies: drought-ready planting, stronger soils, smarter water use, and plant choices that hold their form and function through stress. In The Climate-Resilient Gardener, John J. Albers draws on decades of building and curating Vista Gardens to share practical, field-tested guidance on creating landscapes that thrive through changing conditions. The talk explores plant selection, soil and water fundamentals, and design principles that support biodiversity while preserving the layered beauty that perennial gardeners value—texture, structure, seasonal cadence, and longevity.
